What’s Your Favorite Thing Oak Leaf Has Done?
From time-to-time, I’ll try to post some kind of question and get you, the reader, to comment and leave an answer to the question. This really hasn’t ever worked for me. I’ll ask a question and one person will respond…and it sucks.
So, I’m asking you, if you can answer this question, please do.
What has been your favorite thing that Oak Leaf has ever done? This can be for you if you’ve attended the Leaf for a while, or if you’ve only been once. It could be a song, illustration, message/series, event or anything.
I’ll go first…my favorite thing was when we kicked off our first service at Woodland. We started the service with a video set to “Beautiful Day” (by U2) that had some clips and pictures of people from church events up until that point. The Video started with a title of “Oak Leaf Church At The Movies” At the end of the video and halfway through the song, it said “First Sunday at Woodland” and faded to a black screen. Tenth Avenue North kicked into the song without missing a beat! The lights all came up, the three screens put images up and everyone went crazy! I loved it!
What about you? What’s your favorite thing Oak Leaf has done?

I think there’s probably a lot that I could say. After living as myself for about twenty two years, you get to know yourself. However, I’ll stick to the basics…
I live in Atlanta and I’m a full-time student at Atlanta Christian College studying Biblical Studies with a minor in Student Ministry. I like music a lot. I play guitar at different churches, shows and events as a contract musician and play with a few bands (see my Links page).
I’d like a XXX Vitamin Water or Dr. Pepper to drink, or maybe a sweet tea (I mean…I am from the South). I’m a Mac guy and will always be. Organization is vital to most of anything that I do and I thoroughly enjoy making lists (especially if it’s on a 3×5 notecard or a Post-It). I live off my iPhone now…it’s wherever I am. I like to read many books, especially stuff from C.S. Lewis, John Piper, and Andy Stanley (Nerd? I think not…).
I am on the MySpace world as well as Facebook, but I’m on Twitter a whole lot now too.

My favorite thing that has been done at Oak Leaf….. there are many but my main one would have to be putting forth the effort to bring those who are far from God closer to where He wants them to be. That may sound like a general cop-out statement, but unless you are in a church that is doing the same thing then you have no idea the expense and EFFORT that it takes to make this happen. Many long hours of prayer and preparation go into doing what happens on Sunday, and getting out into the community where other people are not as focused. Hats off to all of the Lead Team and volunteers that love God enough to do what we do every single day to teach others about God.
Being a first timer to Oak Leaf this past Sunday (06/29/2008), I was nervous. I had a couple of people tell me I would LOVE Oak Leaf. I was trying to be optomistic. Going anywhere as a single parent with my 5 year old is a chore.
At Oak Leaf I felt like I fit in. EVERYONE I met was so nice. Someone even asked my son to “give me five” as we were checking in to KidVenture. My son was thrilled about that. He loves attention.
So, the thing I like most about Oak Leaf is the positive, welcoming energy that comes from EVERYONE there. We enjoyed our experience so much we will definitely be back (can only attend every other weekend
)
The regift Sunday…. when we gave the offering back to the folks so they could pay it forward. That was cool.
