Whatever It Takes

Sometimes all the criticism of Oak Leaf Church gets to me. Before anyone leaves me a comment telling me that I shouldn’t let it and not to respond to it, I just can’t help letting it get to me. However, I don’t let it get the best of me.

It’s hard for me to understand why people try to find issues with Oak Leaf. All the criticism that gets poured on us is always from the same people…other believers who don’t go to Oak Leaf…most of which have never even been to Oak Leaf. They just hear about what we’ve done before and choose to write about how wrong that is, without knowing anything else about the church. Suddenly we’re a bad church full of heresy because Michael posted a blog about how we gave someone a tattoo on stage or we don’t let children into our services.

It breaks my heart so many fellow believers are so quick to criticize and, by doing so, they’re destroying the unity we have together in Christ. I believe that if the universal church were to come together and work together, we would see God do unbelievable things beyond anything we could imagine. But having the church united will end up being such a big miracle by itself, because we’re so quick to attack each other, instead of searching out the real enemy.

I remember hearing stories about how troops in wars would accidentally fire at each other, not realizing they were on the same side. Many would die from this before realizing the mistake. I can only imagine how that felt for anyone involved. It’s one of those kind of things that makes you so ticked off that you just did something so stupid and messed up so badly. As believers we shoot at each other all the time, not realizing that we’re wasting energy that could be used on firing at the REAL enemy and reaching people.

In case you’re one of those people, here’s the deal…we don’t care about how spiritual you’re trying to be by blogging about the heresies and devil worshipin’ that’s going on over at Oak Leaf Church. We’re going to do whatever it takes, short of sin, to reach people for Jesus’ name. Take that and blog about how twisted we are…but while you’re doing that, we’re going to be seeing God change lives.

I’m glad to be a part of a church that is so on target with its mission and is passionate about doing what Jesus asked us to do.
