Merry Christmas!

Chrismas really snuck up on me this year. I’ve been so busy with a lot of other things and school just got out a week ago for me. I’ve had the date in mind and I’ve seen Christmas coming enough to enjoy it, but it’s come so quick. I’m thankful that I’m completely ready for Christmas in every way, including shopping.

Each Christmas, I pray that God would show me something new or different about himself and this miraculous season that we celebrate. I know that it’s cliche to say, but we really can get carried away in the season and forget how spiritual of a time it is for us, as believers. It’s one of the best times for us to worship…because of what God did to make this season happen, we have life. I love the series that Oak Leaf Church just did (I think North Point did it a few years back too). The title is, “Jesus is NOT the Reason for the Season.” This series was about how Jesus is not the real reason for Christmas; we are. It’s for us that the Christmas season exists. The coming of Christ into the world is for us, that God’s plan might be acted out, so that ultimately, we may have life. The mystery of the incarnation of Christ that we celebrate at Christmas should spur us into worshiping Him. It’s a very spiritual time…

So my Christmas wish for you is that you’ll be able to slow down and spend some time reflecting on God becoming man in Christ and that this time will lead you to worship Him and know Him in a better way.

Merry Christmas!
